Darline Graham, who is competing in next week\u2019s runoff election in South Carolina, stumbled over a question about foreign policy in a debate on Tuesday night. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cAre Taiwan and the South China Sea national security issues for the United States and if so, why or how?\u201d asked one of the moderators.<\/p>\n<p>Graham started her answer by saying, \u201cI\u2019m just going to be honest here.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not that informed on national security,\u201d she said, then paused. \u201cBut I do support the military.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Graham\u2019s brother, Lindsey, died unexpectedly on July 11. She was appointed to fill his seat temporarily, and now <span><a data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/darline-graham-campaign-south-carolina-senate-7faae372fd831368c0f2a1af40e5c703\">she\u2019s running in a special election<\/a><\/span> for her own term. Her opponent is <span><a data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/ralph-norman-interview-south-carolina-senate-trump-72ee10ba47152f1306e0f51803839cb4\">Rep. Ralph Norman.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Her answer was noteworthy because her late brother was known for his involvement in foreign policy, something that Graham mentioned in her answer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy brother was in the Air Force for 33 years so I will do everything I can to support the military,\u201d she said. \u201cMy dad was in the Army. I\u2019m not a polished politician up here, national security is not my thing, not my area of expertise, but I do support the military.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Graham was endorsed by President Donald Trump.
